MORE

ASH WEDNESDAY
February 22 is the official beginning of Lent. On this day of penitence, ashes are placed on our forehead to represent our mortality.

STATIONS OF THE CROSS
Please join us in walking the stations of the cross in the columbarium.

TO THE CROSS
Join us for this sermon series as we learn more about Christ’s journey to the Cross. There are also accompanying videos for Sunday School classes with a pdf study guide. Click below to watch!

HIKE TO THE CROSS
Join the VHMC clergy at McCallum Park (on Rosemary Lane) on Saturday, March 11, at 9:00 am, as we take a leisurely hike together. We will stop periodically to remember each of the 14 stations of the cross (the events that happened to Jesus from the Last Supper until His resurrection on Easter Sunday).

EASTER EGG HUNT
Join us for an Easter egg hunt on the Sanctuary Lawn, April 2nd at 4:00 pm. Don’t forget your camera for pictures with the Easter bunny!

PALM SUNDAY
Palm Sunday is when we celebrate Jesus’ entrance into Jerusalem with the waving of palm branches. As the crowd welcomed Jesus so long ago, they cried hosanna, waved their palm branches and even put down their coats in his path. Join us on April 2 in all worship services.

MAUNDY THURSDAY
Maundy Thursday is the name given to the day on which Jesus celebrated the Passover with His disciples, known as the Last Supper, and we will do the same. Our service will be held on April 6, in the Sanctuary at 7:00 pm and will focus on Holy Communion and end with the “New Command” that Jesus gave to his disciples and to each of us.

GOOD FRIDAY
We call Friday of Holy Week “good,” because we live on the Easter side of that day. We know the outcome and what Christ went through for us, so it is a “good” day. Our Good Friday service will be held on April 7, at 7:00 pm in the Sanctuary. We will reflect on the suffering of Christ, building the contrast between Jesus’ death and the resurrection. We cannot fully appreciate the resurrection until we have gone through the suffering.

EASTER CROSS
We invite your family to participate in celebrating the risen Lord on Easter morning by placing flowers on the cross located on our front lawn. Flowers will be available in a large container, or please feel free to bring your own.

LENTEN OFFERING
This year, our offering will benefit Rise Against Hunger and disaster relief through our mission partners that we work with all year.

BUNNY AID
We will be collecting items for Easter Baskets to distribute to all ages for Easter. Please bring your pre-made Easter Baskets or items for your Easter Baskets to the church office or missions office by Wednesday, March 15. Baskets will be distributed the following week. We would like to have baskets for little children and through the ages of older adults that are in hospitals, homes, or places while undergoing treatments. If you have any questions, please contact Buffie Whitt (buffiewhitt@charter.net).
